LO2: Rushes re film ep 1

After watching the footage we realised that all the camera settings didn't match the other footage, this made it look slightly un professional. It seemed to appear a bit of an orangey colour which doesn't look much better once colour corrected. Due to the logo on the screen, the reflected light is making the presenters hair look green which once again can not be colour corrected. The sound overall of the footage is patchy and crackly and is becoming more and more difficult to edit as it effects the level of sound. In order to sort the issue we must re film this section to ensure it will be produced to a high standard.  The next time we film we will use 3 of the same cameras which shoot 1280x720 which will help continuity and also we will use a more powerful boom mic to pick up sound. There is bound to be some hiss and background noise but when all sound is recorded on the same device, it will be asker to edit as it will all require the same settings.

As the footage we previously recorded failed, we had to do a re film, and this time changing factors such as cameras and lighting. This time we used 3 of the same DSLR cameras in order to make sure that they all had the same ratio which will help the editing software. This time we didn't use any lighting other than natural as it reflects on the posters and makes it not visible because of exposure, we had to turn the TV off and are going to edit the logo onto the screen in post- production. Although not changed on this example of the rushes, we also used a boom mic plugged into a stereo microphone in order to produce a more efficient and better quality sound. The background noise is still present but not as obvious as before, in this case we can now edit the sound and reduce it. The footage is much better than it was before due to the quality, sound and lighting.

LO2: Failed episode 1

In the video below we attempted to film episode 1, after looking at the footage and attempting to fix the problems with editing, we realised it is too difficult to fix and that we would have to film again. The quality of the filming is slightly blurred so we would have to film again with the camera more in focus. The logo on the TV screen doesn't show up so the lighting and positioning needs to be changed in order for it to show up and look professional. The lighting is shining green onto one of the presenters hair making it look slightly green, we tried fixing this with colour correction but it wouldn't change the tone of lighting to how we want it, so the lighting and positioning needs to be changed to fix this the next time we shoot. On the second shot of the male presenter, the lighting is quite yellowy, so again the lighting needs to be changed, also the presenter is not looking at the camera and the top of his head has been chopped off, so the positioning needs to be changed. Also each different shot has a different volume change, this could be changed by editing, but the reason we didn't do this is because we needed to sound record again anyway as there is a muffling sound which distracts you from what they are actually saying. we are going to re-film this section to ensure it will be produced a high standard.  Next time we will use 3 of the same cameras which shoot at 1280x720 which will help continuity and also we will use a more powerful boom mic to pick up sound.  There is bound to be some hiss and background noise but when all sound is recorded on the same device, it will be easier to edit as it will all require the same settings.

LO2: Evaluation

In my group we set up cameras to get the perfect shot of each presenter. The camera had different ISO settings to balance out lighting from different angles. This made all footage look the same so there was no different lighting and all clips matched. We used 2 high key lightings from different angles in order to make the presenters show clearly and look better quality.
We used our storyboard to help follow our plan and both presenters spoke from a script. We followed health and safety regulations and ensured that no extension wires were not overloaded and all wires were tucked out the way. My individual role was to help with set design, it was my responsibility to keep the set looking to it's standard for the camera. I also set up cameras and positioned them to film the presenters as they are talking.  We had to play around with the lighting and cameras a lot before filming as the light was shining obviously on the posters, also the logo on the TV screen didn't show very well as the gradient made it hard to show up on camera, to solve this problem we had to get the person who designed the logo to take the gradient off so it would show clearly on the TV screen. I think that the rushes are fit to it's purpose as it shows clearly that it is a TV magazine styled show, it has been split into sections such as introduction and example gameplay. The promo is being edited to look fun and entertaining by use of colours and music, it is also informative as the audience will be learning about games. The miss-en-scene connotes gaming as the set is surrounded by posters of the liking of a stereotypical gamer, it shows the genre clearly with it's games and animations, the outfits of the presenters are very relaxed and chilled out which gives it an informal feel making the audience feel more relaxed and see the show in a more entertaining way than a serious way.

LO1: Budget and risk assessment.

Budget
There is no allocated budget for this TV programme as it is by an independent company which rely on public funding and sponsorship.    The show has been sponsored by Lime Pro Gamers who have gave us a poster to display on the programme however have put no money behind the programme meaning that the programme will be sharing awareness for their company.  It will also make the show look more professional by having a sponsor.
